AM Deep Time Walk:

A walk with environmental archaeologist Dr Scott Timpany and Dan Lee (UHI Archaeology Institute) discussing the archaeology and landscapes of Skye and western Scotland. The walk will include probing peat deposits to locate suitable sampling sites for future work in order to understand long term environmental change in the Staffin area. The walk will take in sites and landscapes from the Mesolithic to the present day.

PM Environmental Archaeology Workshop:

This workshop will promote the understanding past landscapes and human-environmental interactions. Microscopes and specialists will also be on-hand to give people a chance to see first-hand the types of evidence studied and to have a go themselves with activities such as wood identifications, waterlogged plant remains and dendrochronology, together with pollen.

Level 2 walk. Meet at Columba 1400 Centre, Staffin.

Free/Donations welcome. Children with adults welcome. Bring a packed lunch. Dogs on leads welcome.
