E112a - Dingwall Walk 2: The Road to the Castle [RC]
17 October 2019
Starts: 13:30
Ends: 14:30

Once more, as part of Dingwall’s very own Arts Festival Word on the Street, resident Walking Talker Jonathan McColl, one of  Dingwall’s clued-up historians, will guide you through the town on a specially prepared guided tour.

We look at the oldest roads in Dingwall, Viking trade and settlement, Major General Sir Hector MacDonald, Scotland’s church history, and the Earls of Ross with their possession of the largest stronghold in Scotland north of Stirling, and bring in Aleister Crowley, Victorian African exploration, early wireless, Dingwall’s own privateer and even the Black Death!

Meet at Castlebank House, opposite the National Hotel.  Free, donations welcome. Part of the Word on the Street Festival.

This walk will be offered on Thursday 17th, Friday 18th and Saturday 19th.
