Megalithic overkill? Rethinking the multiple stone rows of Caithness and Sutherland

Description:
There are between 25 and 30 multiple stone rows of Caithness and Sutherland, weird prehistoric monuments that consist of dozens of small standing stones set into long rows. In this lecture I will reflect on 150 years of the study of these monuments, and present a re-evaluation of their role and purpose based on my own excavations and fieldwork.
Dr Kenny Brophy is Senior Lecturer of Archaeology at University of Glasgow. His main interests lie in the British Neolithic. He has a passion for research and activities that impact on the wider public, and strongly believes that our prehistoric heritage has contemporary relevance and can benefit society.
