E58 - Culduthel: An Iron Age craftworking centre in North-East Scotland [ON]
8 October 2021
Starts: 19:30
Ends: 21:00

Part of Highland Archaeology Festival of Online Talks organised by the Highland Council Historic Environment Team

The Iron Age craft centre site known as Culduthel was identified in 2005 on the southern outskirts of Inverness. The results of this excavation have finally been published by the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland and reveal a vivid picture of an Iron Age community engaged in highly developed and sustained production of iron, bronze and glass objects between the late First Millennium BC and early First Millennium AD. The main author of the book, Dr Candy Hatherley, will take us on a visual tour of the site and discuss what the excavation of Culduthel means for Iron Age studies in Scotland and beyond.

Bookings via Eventbrite (link).
