Guided tour of the WW2/Cold War/Emergency Operations Bunker, Inverness [IN] {A7d}
8 October 2022
Starts: 18:30
Ends: 21:00

Constructed in WW2 as a ‘filter room’ to process RADAR signals, the subteranean building was then used by the ROC, Health Board, During the cold-war it was hardened to provide a living environment for ‘high heid yins’ in the event of a nuclear strike on the UK.  Subsequently used by the Council as an emergency operations centre.

We offer guided tours around the building [MHG20493]. The guided tour takes around 2 hours – depending on interest and questions.  The building is underground.  Being a historic listed building it has not been possible to make it accessible to the non-ambulant.  There are about 40-50 steps to reach the lower floor.
